Issue Position: Economy & Jobs

Issue Position

It is essential for Congress to take action to remove the policy barriers to America's economic strength and prosperity to ensure stronger and more stable growth and job creation.

To unleash America's full potential we need to secure our borders and reform our legal immigration system, work towards a balanced federal budget, negotiate smarter trade policy that puts the interests of American workers and small businesses first, reduce the regulatory burden and improve the legal and tax environment for businesses and individuals, remove federal government control of public education, and withdraw America's participation in global institutions like the United Nations.

Today, American citizens and businesses alike are shackled with page after page of burdensome, unnecessary, and excessive government regulations.

Chief among these excessive regulations is the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, the President's plan to force individuals, families, and businesses to purchase government mandated health insurance.

As we are seeing today, burdensome regulations like Obamacare and the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act are hurting economic growth and employment increasing the costs of health insurance, medical care, and financial services.

As your Congressman, I will fight to remove the barriers to greater economic growth and job creation, and for true free market principles that would replace excessive government regulations that are suffocating risk taking, the entrepreneurial spirit of Americans, innovation, and personal freedom.
